As an art student I was a watercolorist until the mid 90's when I experenced my first Oil, Plein Air Workshop. I have been a Plein Air painter since then. I enjoy the stimulation , challange and anticipation of painting from nature. There is an energy working that doesnt come from a photograph , an excitment of trying to capture something before it vanishes.
In the field the sun moves, the wind blows, the clouds move. Your scene can change fast. Forget about the bug on your nose or the ants that want to invade your socks. Just get the color down. You don't have the luxury of a calm studio. Each painting is a challenge.
