I am a former art teacher with a B.A in Visual
Arts. I spent many years working with mentally and physically challenged
students and witnessed first hand what it is like to create artwork without
any prejudice or inhibition. I learned very much about life and art from
these students.
When I began
my own family in 1993, I decided to devote my time to being a mother and
an artist. Since then some of my favorite times have been spent on the
Tomoka River with my husband and children. Capturing the natural beauty
of this area has been my pleasure.
I am presently working as Co-Curator at the
Ormond Memorial Art Museum. This allows me to surround myself with wonderful
works of art and stay in touch with other
artists.
My most recent work is very much influenced
by the intracoastal waterways of Central Florida. These paintings are
an exploration of the horizontal bands of color that make-up the Florida
landscape.
I have allowed these bands of color that layer
the canvas to become more important to me than trying to recreate every
detail of the subject matter.
