Rico was born in Brooklyn N.Y. in 1938 and moved to Florida when he was three years old. He grew up in Florida and worked outdoors where he developed a love of the landscape and seascape. In high school his art teacher recognized his talent and got him a scholarship to the Pratt Institute in New York. He decided instead to go to the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship but continued to study and paint whenever possible.

After 25 years of teaching school and painting part time he began making enough money to retire and devote his time to his art. His artwork hangs in several galleries but prefers to sell by himself because of the prices he has to charge to cover fees and percentages. He has entered his works in galleried shows and has won three first places, two seconds and a peoples choice award ribbon.

Rico plans his vacations to places such as North Carolina, Key West, and the Bahamas where he can paint en plein air and from pictures he has taken back at his studio. He specializes in landscapes and seascapes and offers anyone who purchases one of his paintings a 10% discount on any and all paintings thereafter. He hopes that his paintings will give enjoyment and satisfaction to all those who enjoy the great outdoors.
