The landscape is a huge challenge, particularly working on location. Each session presents new challenges including atmospheric conditions, light, wind, rain, biting insects and other elements. I remember each painting experience because they are all unique.

I spend most of my painting time in remote areas around Florida. Painting our remaining natural elements becomes more and more important as our resources continue to disappear.

I paint with oils and acrylics in a loose, painterly method, with energetic brushwork and lush color application. Painting on location requires speed and stamina. Plein air painting is the most exciting genre of painting for me. The conditions are extremely unpredictable and never repetitive or dull. It suits my personality well.

My studio work is in a larger format. I like to take my time in the studio, starting with a grisaille and then using many transparent glazes to enrich the painting process. I often paint in the studio from my plein air studies or photos I have taken in my travels.

The bonus in my career is having known so many wonderful artists and collectors over the years. It is a privilege to be a part of their lives.
